Two Americans, both wide-eyed and slightly jet-lagged, meet in an Italian language school. Little did they know that this chance encounter would lead to a friendship forged in the fire of shared experiences, linguistic misadventures, and an endless supply of espresso.
Fast forward to today, and these two ordinary citizens have transformed into the dynamic duo behind the microphones of “Americans Anonymous”.
The Twists and Turns
Our journey to becoming podcasters was filled with unexpected detours and serendipitous moments. From navigating the labyrinthine streets of Italian cities to deciphering the mysteries of Italian bureaucracy, we’ve learned that sometimes the best stories come from the most unlikely places.
But what really inspired us to start this podcast? Was it the desire to share our experiences with fellow expats? The need to document our linguistic struggles for posterity? Or perhaps it was the realization that our coffee intake had reached a level that could only be justified by creative output?
The Friendship Factor
At the heart of “Americans Anonymous” is a friendship that has weathered the storms of culture shock, language barriers, and the occasional disagreement over the proper way to pronounce “bruschetta.” Through laughter, tears, and more than a few glasses of wine, we’ve discovered that the true joy of living abroad lies in the connections we make along the way.
The Surprising Joys
Living outside our homeland has taught us to embrace the unexpected, to find humor in the chaos, and to appreciate the small victories – like successfully ordering coffee in Italian without accidentally insulting anyone’s grandmother.
It’s these surprising joys that we aim to share with our listeners, whether they’re expats themselves or simply curious about the adventures that await beyond their comfort zone.
Your Story Matters
But enough about us – we want to hear from you! How did you end up wherever you are, whether it’s abroad or in a new city in the US? What twists and turns led you to your current location? And most importantly, what surprising joys have you discovered along the way?
Write to us at aa@americansanonymouspodcast.com and share your story. Who knows – you might just inspire a future episode of “Americans Anonymous”!
So grab a cup of coffee (or maybe a few), settle in, and join us on this journey of laughter, learning, and the occasional linguistic faux pas. It’s the podcast you didn’t know you needed, but we promise it’s the one you’ll keep coming back to – if only to commiserate over the fact that we still struggle with Italian after all these years.
